Nanwoo FC's team of players in their 60s from Gwanak-gu won the 45th Gwanak-gu Chief's Cup Soccer Tournament, securing the title for the second year in a row. The tournament was held on September 6 at the Gwanak-gu Citizens' Sports Ground, with divisions organized by age group, including players in their 20s and 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s. Nanwoo FC passed the preliminary round on September 6 and confirmed their championship a week later on the 13th, winning both the semifinal and final matches.
Competing as the defending champions from last year, Nanwoo FC's players drew on skills and teamwork built up over time. During the matches, teamwork stood out as players checked on each other's positions, covered open spaces, and encouraged teammates whose stamina was flagging. Outside the field, members and family who were not playing came to the grounds to cheer the team on.
After the championship was confirmed, players, members, and their families gathered together to share in the joy, and at the celebration that followed, they looked back on moments from the matches and encouraged one another.
This tournament is an example of the recreational sports activities among soccer enthusiasts in the Gwanak-gu area. Since the event was divided by age group, allowing participants in their 60s to take part, it can serve as a useful example for local residents who wish to exercise regularly and manage their health regardless of age.
